- Sau “wish” vaø “If only” ngöôøi ta thöôøng duøng moät ñieàu öôùc ao hoaëc moät ñieàu khoâng thaät.
- Coù 3 loaïi meänh ñeà sau Wish vaø If only.
- Future wish: (ñieàu ao öôùc ôû töông lai)
Subject 1 + wish + Subject 2 + would + Verb (bare inf)
(If only) could
Ex: I wish I would be a doctor in the future.
If only he would take the trip with me next Suday.
- Present wish: (öôùc ao ôû hieän taïi)
Subject 1 + wish + Subject 2 + Past Subjunctive
(If only) (V2 / Ved ; be = were)
Ex: Mary wishes he were a boy.
I wish I could swim.
We wish we didn’t have to go to class today.
- Past wish: (ao öôùc ôû quaù khöù)
Subject 1 + wish + Subject 2 + Past Perfect
(If only) (had + V3 / Ved)
Ex: If only he had passed the exam last year.
